If you love the quirkier, more MF Doom side of Hip Hop and you haven’t heard of L’Orange then you are in for a treat! I stumbled across this producer late 2022 when I was struck by the album cover design (tick 1). Then reading the cover I spotted Kool Keith (Tick 2). I didn’t need a third tick but if you do the vinyl is half transparent and half bright orange and even though I’m not a fan of coloured vinyl this was pretty dope!
Back to the real reason you’re here though. There aren’t many producers out there that have a genuine vision prior to producing an album and execute to this level. Also, there aren’t many albums that draw you in as a whole. I found this album an edge to edge masterpiece that lives firmly in the heavy rotation crate in the flylyf studio.
It is obvious L’Orange is at ease and well versed in producing concept albums with this stunning offering based on sci-fi time travel. Although Kool Keith and L’Orange seems to be a match made in heaven the collaboration was actually quite disjointed and disparate when compared to more conventional studio lockdown colabs.
